How to apply for DigiD

An increasing number of official government procedures are taken care of online and a DigiD is required.

You can use a DigiD to log on to websites of the government and the healthcare sector. For instance, you can file a tax return, apply for rent benefit, or request a remission of municipal taxes. You can only apply for a DigiD if you are a resident of the Netherlands. To apply for your DigiD, you need a Citizen Service Number BSN, which you will receive at your registration. Please follow  application for a DigiD  and click on EN for further follow-up. 

Make sure to fill out the exact address you are registered at. After filling out the application, a validation letter will be sent to your home address to prevent fraud.
