The Library is a place that welcomes everybody. Regardless of age, nationality, or origin.
You are welcome to come over to study or read the newspaper or a magazine while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea. If you are a member, you can borrow books. In addition to our collection of Dutch books, we have a collection of foreign books in different languages. But we also have a lot to offer for non-members.
Activities and meetings
The Library organizes various activities to improve language and digital skills and also hosts cultural events. You can turn to the libraries in Zeeland if you want to learn how to speak (better) Dutch. You can find information on practicing Dutch at the (Digi)Taalhuis
(language house) and Taalpunten (language points) at the libraries.
Several libraries host a Taalcafé (language café) every week. Here, you can practice talking in Dutch about a variety of subjects in small conversation groups lead by a volunteer. This is not a Dutch course with a fixed lesson programme: practicing conversation is the central objective, while also providing you with the opportunity to meet and connect with people.
For children
In addition to the regular collection of books in several languages for children aged 0 to 18, we also have a special ABC collection. This collection is aimed at parents and children up to 8 years of age, and consists of lookbooks, dictionaries, books on different cultures, and foreign or multilingual picture books. These books can be reserved online through our libraries’ websites.
Events are organized at a regular basis for toddlers and primary and secondary school pupils. For example: book readings, workshops, interactive events. We also host an annual Science Day, where children are introduced to technology.
In other words: the Library is there for everyone!
